The Complete German Commission E Monographs

In 1978, the German government established a committee of experts to evaluate the safety and efficacy of more than 300 medicinal plants and herbal combinations sold in Germany. This committee was called Commission E.
As a result of the Commission’s work, official monographs were published containing therapeutically relevant information on medicinal plants and herbal medicines, including scientifically approved uses, contraindications, side effects, dosage, and drug interactions.
The English translation of the Commission E monographs was prepared for use by physicians, pharmacists, healthcare professionals, researchers, regulatory authorities, consumers, and the herbal industry, and was published by the American Botanical Council (ABC).
One of the reference sources we frequently consult, the German Commission E Monographs, can be accessed free of charge on the ABC website: https://www.herbalgram.org/resources/commission-e-monographs/
